A 3-week residential on-campus program dedicated to software engineering, with a specialized focus on computer science, coding, and software development.

Residential On-Campus Experience

Participants will stay over night at West Chester University. The program is scheduled to commence on June 21, 2024, and conclude on July 12, 2024.

Software Engineering Education

Participants will acquire skills in computer programming, database management,
architecture, and software engineering professional skills.

Career Preparation

This opportunity will equip participants for a future career in technology and guide them through the college experience.

Our goal is to inspire individuals to become software engineers who develop critical systems for the betterment of society.

Program Overview

The Hidden Gem program offers an immersive approach that aims to provide hands-on experience and practical skills, preparing participants for real-world challenges in the field of software engineering.

Residential On-campus Experience

Students will stay overnight for three weeks in a college atmosphere, immersing themselves in a focused study to develop into software engineers.

Hands-on Experience & Instruction

Participants will experience a day in the life of a software engineer through project development, engineering ceremonies, and continuous problem-solving using opensource technologies and tools.

Mentorship

The program will include college mentors from Pennsylvania schools, offering guidance and support to participants. Additionally, students will receive one-on-one mentorship from the founder, assisting with professional goal setting and college preparation.

Recreation Time and Off-campus Excursions

Daily recreational activities, including open gym, fitness studio, swimming, outdoor activities, dance, video games, and library time will be provided. Additionally, there will be weekly off-campus excursions.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should be high school Freshmen (rising sophomores) residing in the Philadelphia metropolitan area (PA, NJ, DE).

Demographics

All qualified applicants without regard for race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age or disabilities.

Interests

Applicants should be passionate about pursuing a 4-vear university education with a focus on Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.
